What is Orion I V2 firmware?
Orion I Version 2 firmware is the result of significant effort by many people inside and outside of Ten-Tec.
From a user’s perspective, the V2 firmware may not appear significantly different from the older V1 firmware. Below the surface, however, they are very different. Primarily, the “core” that ties all the processors together is all new and far more reliable than in V1. This core is connected with all new DSP signal processing code.
Another significant change between Version 1 and Version 2 firmware is the way in which the SWEEP function is managed. In V1 the SWEEP system was managed by firmware. In V2 the SWEEP function is controlled in hardware. To support this new implementation it is necessary to make a small hardware modification to the Orion I Logic/DSP board.
The hardware modification to support Version 2 firmware is described in Orion V2 Logic Mod.pdf This modification is optional, as described in (version 2 FAQ). In addition, your Orion may already be modified or may be factory modified as described in 565V2 Upgrade Program.pdf
